Yamaha’s Commute Friendly Option

Automobile is a sector where there are developments made quite often, we find every other brand coming up with something every year. Automobile companies today in this world face a lot of competition. With the new designs coming in the market, the whole segment of automobile industry has gone through a dynamic change. Though it is extremely challenging but automobile companies never step back in creating a new image about them in the market. Nowadays automobile companies are focusing more on building on machines which are highly economical. Japan, India, etc.
are some known countries which are not only creating new engines at the top level but also taking care of the consumers which prefer economical cars. Yes, for obvious reasons, the cost of gas and the affordability of maintaining the machine is another pain for a particular part of the society.

Let’s get on with the most feasible option today for a single or two person ride, a scooter or a bike. Two wheelers in India are considered to be a big necessity. Reasons like traffic, fuel efficiency, low maintaining costs. To mention a few companies in the world, Yamaha, Honda, Hyosung, Hero are some of the big daddys of the industry. Not very  old Hyosung has also stepped into the Indian market, though not much seen on the roads, it is striving for its survival anyhow. The Japanese Yamaha has been on the charts for a very long time now. Always known to be creating powerful machines, Yamaha in India came up with the Yamaha R 15. A 150 CC bike with sporty look, which is fuel efficient and pleasurable riding, it had some eye feasting features on it. But, it still couldn’t strike the common man which can be run everyday. The FZ series has seriously brought a lot more sales to Yamaha for sure. With this the Yamaha has now entered into a new phase of scooters. Scooters today are very mobile as compared to bikes. Though not powerful it surely fulfills the need upto a much greater extent.

Well competing with the scooter experts in India like TVS or Honda, Yamaha had some difficulty to catch eyeballs on it. With the launch of the Yamaha Ray around 18 months back Yamaha has been looking forward to buildmore commute segment wheelers. The Yamaha Ray was targeted towards the females and the other version the Ray Z for males. We now see Yamaha’s new machine The Alpha, with a new design in the market meant for the entire family.  Though the specifications might be quite similar to that of Ray but it doesn’t look similar like it. The Alpha is more simpler which can please the eye and somewhat might even remind you about Honda. With a typical family scooter look, The Alpha has a unique style on the rear side. The brake lamp is placed unusually and the tail direction indicators too look a bit unique. Yamaha is quite sure that consumers may have never seen such a distinct in its own way. Though it’s a refreshing design, it doesn’t really meet the standards.

It has a 113 CC engine with 7 BHP and 8.1 of Torque builds another interest in the consumer. The machine is a perfect fit to move around the town and clear your daily errands. Upto the speed of 50kmph the engine is pretty smooth but it doesn’t really stay that way when it exceeds that. Though it feels like the engine is being stretched somehow after reaching 90kmph.Though at high speeds like this the drum brakes on it will impress you quite nicely with the braking time. The new Yamaha scooter is powered by an air-cooled 4-stroke 113cc engine with CVT (Continuous variable transmission). The company claims that his new engine delivers fuel economy of 62kmpl and also has smooth acceleration.

The Yamaha Alpha has been priced at Rs 49,518 (ex-showroom Delhi) and is available in five colours-
White, Black, Grey, Purple and Red. It competes with the Honda Activa and the Suzuki Let’s.
