Indian Archers Earned Their Second Gold Medal


India earned their second gold medal in the 17th Asian Games after the men’s compound archery team bagged the yellow metal by getting the better of South Korea, in Incheon on Saturday. 

The Indian trio of Abhishek Verma, Sandeep Kumar and Rajat Chauhan, upstaged the biggest upset in Asian Games 2014 as they defeated the world champions South Korea to take the gold medal in Compound Men’s Team Event. The Indian team bagged 2nd gold for the country after Jitu Rai’s sole gold won on Day 1 of the 17th edition of Asian Games at the Gyeyang Asiad Archery Field here Saturday. This achievement helped India jump to prominent higher rankings to 11th from 16th in the medal table. India’s medal tally has shot up to 20 with  2 gold, 2 silver and 16 bronze medals on Day 8 of Asian Games 2014.
