India On Top In The Latest ICC ODI Rankings |
Zimbabwe beat Australia by 3 wickets in the tri-series at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on August 31. The minnows registered the win over the four-time world champions after a span of 31 years. The last time when the team recorded a win over the cricketing giants was in the 1983 Prudential World Cup under the captaincy of current Indian coach Duncan Fletcher.
This win has led to a drastic change in the ODI Rankings as Australia lose their top spot to India and get pushed back to the number 4th position. South Africa and Sri Lanka are at the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. We might see a lot of shuffle in the top four teams with only three rating points separating them. India will look to extend the lead by a series wins over England after two successive wins in the ongoing ODI series while the other spots hang in the balance as Australia, South Africa and Zimbabwe battle it out in the remaining three matches of the tri-series.
